Army typically wears a special uniform with a nod to the history of the armed forces for their annual matchup versus Navy. This year will be no different.

West Point and Nike revealed those uniforms on Tuesday, designed as a tribute to the Army's 3rd Infantry Division.

"The 2023 Army-Navy uniform tells the story of the soldiers of the 3rd Infantry Division during the opening phase of Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF)," the two parties explained in a press release. "This year marks the 20th anniversary of the Marne Division’s participation in the initiation of offensive operations in Iraq, the longest and most rapid armored advance since the Second World War."

The uniforms are a tan color, corresponding with the color of the desert. The sides of the helmet feature an image of the 3rd Infantry Division's official mascot Rocky the Bulldog. Rocky was created by Walt Disney himself in 1965. The division's official song is called "Dogface Soldier", the title of which is also on the front of the helmet.

The division's nickname ("Rock of the Marne") can also be found throughout the uniform as well as abbreviated.

"The 3rd Infantry Division’s success hinged upon its ability to seize and maintain the initiative against a determined adversary in harsh and unforgiving terrain. The Dogface Soldiers of the 3rd Infantry Division accomplished this feat through clear application of the U.S. Army’s characteristics of the offensive: surprise, concentration, audacity, and tempo."

Army and Navy will square off December 9 in Foxborough, Massachusetts on CBS at 3 PM ET.
