G5 Standouts From The 2024 Reese's Senior Bowl
The 2024 edition of the Reese's Senior Bowl wrapped up over the weekend. The game, and the week of practice leading up to it, provided several prospects from the Group of Five with the opportunity to better their draft stock.
After reviewing the tape, here are the names that scouts should be a bit higher on as April's NFL Draft approaches.
Luke McCaffrey (Rice WR)
McCaffrey was one of the game's better receiver prospects, hauling in one handed grabs and even having a solid day as a punt returner. The younger brother of Christian McCaffrey has begun to make a name for himself in his own right after switching from quarterback to receiver in college.
Christian Haynes (UConn OL)
Haynes looked particularly good in pass-blocking scenarios throughout the week. The 6'3", 310 pounder more than held his own, showing that if a rep comes down to upper body vs upper body, he's more than capable of winning.
Quinyon Mitchell (Toledo CB)
Mitchell ended up opting out of the game itself, as did quite a few other players prior to kickoff. However, Mitchell might have had the best week of practice of any defensive prospect at the Senior Bowl. He may have even played himself into the first round of the NFL Draft, per draft analysts from around the industry.
Michael Pratt - (Tulane QB)
Pratt's time under center in the Senior Bowl had mixed results, but the former Tulane signal caller did make a few impressive throws into traffic. He finished the day with four completions on ten attempts with 45 yards and an interception.
Marshawn Kneeland - (WMU DL)
Kneeland's stats in the game itself don't jump off the page, but he did showcase some fantastic speed off of the edge throughout the week. In practice, Kneeland even reached a sprinting speed of 19.8 miles per hour.
Ethan Driskell - (Marshall OL)
Driskell's day didn't jump off the screen in a major way, however the former Thundering Herd lineman displayed some solid, fundamentally sound blocking, primarily going up against the American team's host of talented pass rushers. Driskell also had a solid week of practice, reportedly meeting with a few NFL teams in Mobile.
