Memphis Football Coach Ryan Silverfield Gets Minor Injury From Gatorade Shower After Bowl Win
No pain, no gain, right?
Following the Memphis Tigers' win over the Iowa State Cyclones in Friday's Liberty Bowl, Memphis players gave head coach Ryan Silverfield a traditional Gatorade shower. In the process of dumping one of the coolers from the sideline onto Silverfield's head, players accidentally struck him in the forehead with the cooler, leaving a small gash. Silverfield noted the incident in his postgame media availability.
"I got a battle scar wound," Silverfield noted, pointing to a bloody mark near his hairline. "I'm glad it happened at the end of the game...If it had happened in the first quarter, I'd probably be laid out somewhere on the sideline. Cold Gatorade bath, but that's fine, I'll take it...I'll take those every day of the week."
