FIU Football: Defensive Tackle Germaine Carter Adds Explosive Factor
Standing at 6'1" and 275 pounds, Miami Norland High product Germaine Carter looks to add to an FIU defense that ranked at the bottom of Conference USA in 2023.
In 2023, Carter led the Miami Norland defense to the state championship game where they unfortunately fell, but FIU head coach Mike MacIntyre described him as someone who is "quick as lightning and powerful."

Carter falls into the same boat as Jack Daly, who has declared for the 2024 NFL Draft and former Panther Davon Strickland. Both were inside nose three-technique defensive lineman. The ideal situation would be that Carter takes over for Gustafson in about two years, but that would be down the road.
In his senior season with Miami Norland, Carter finished with 52 total tackles- 32 solo tackles, 20 assisted tackles. What stands out the most are the eight sacks he had in just a season of play, which shows off the quick speed and power that someone like Carter possesses.
Defensive line coach George Frazier is the one who recruited Carter to stay home and come to FIU.
