Just days after cementing himself into the FIU record books, wide receiver Kris Mitchell will be entering the transfer portal as a graduate transfer.

In 2023, Mitchell hauled in 64 receptions for 1,118 yards and 6 touchdowns, playing in all 12 games. Mitchell now stands at 6'1" and 183 pounds and ended up gaining close to 40 pounds throughout his four years with the program (no action in 2019).

Mitchell came in this season as the Panthers WR1 and certainly lived up to the expectations, becoming the Panthers' record holder for most receiving yards in a single-season, surpassing FIU greats T.Y. Hilton and Tyrese Chambers.

At the end of the season, Mitchell said that he would weight all of his options between the NFL and possibly returning to FIU for his graduate year. However, he will head to the portal with a chance to find a new opportunity.

Mitchell is a big and athletic wideout who has faced Power Five teams before, but most notably against the Arkansas Razorbacks where he had six receptions for 157 yards.

What stands out the most about Mitchell is being able to go up and being able to make those 50/50 receptions. After the season Mitchell had and his career numbers at FIU, with 100 receptions for 1,663 yards and 11 touchdowns, the Jacksonville native will receive plenty of G5 interest, but most notably, should interest from power five teams where he can make the jump to a higher level of competition.
