One of the more notable defensive backs for the UTEP Miners of the last decade, cornerback/safety hybrid Nik Needham will remain with the Miami Dolphins for the upcoming season.

The Dolphins confirmed on X Sunday afternoon that the Buena Park, California product will remain with the team for the foreseeable future. Details of the deal were not immediately made available,

In four seasons on the field at UTEP (2015-2018), Needham broke up a program record 36 passes. He also finished his college career with 213 tackles and 13.5 tackles for loss.

Needham signed with the Dolphins as an undrafted free agent in 2019 and has spent every season since with the team. Needham tore his Achilles in 2022, which saw him take a limited role in the Dolphins' defense this past season. He has appeared in 61 games for Miami, accumulating 27 starts. He has defended 25 passes with six interceptions and 199 tackles.
