College football fans familiar with Scotty Walden's body of work know he that he prides himself on being high energy and relatable. UTEP fans got a great example of that on Thursday night from their new head football coach.

During UTEP's men's basketball matchup with Louisiana Tech on Thursday, Walden's staff was introduced and given the mic. Walden heaped praise on his coaching staff and excitedly encouraged fans to come support the football team during their Spring Game on April 20.

UTEP football announced their spring schedule earlier this week with practices beginning on March 18 with 14 practice sessions prior to the Spring Game.

The 34-year old took it one step further, taking his shirt off to reveal a torso covered in blue and orange body paint with UTEP's pick axe logo on his chest. Walden also stood with students in their designated section for part of the game, participating in their usual chants of "Defense!"

Walden even raced around the court during a stoppage in play in an attempt to get the crowd excited.

Walden enters his first year as the UTEP head coach in 2024 after spending the previous four seasons as the head coach of Austin Peay University.
