When former FIU Panther Tyrese Chambers entered the portal following the 2022 season, he received plenty of interest and joined the Maryland Terrapins in the Big Ten Conference.

Through his two seasons at FIU, Chambers had 96 receptions for 1,618 yards and 13 touchdowns. In the 2021 season, Chambers surpassed NFL legend T.Y. Hilton for the most receiving yards in a single-season. That record was later broken in 2023 by Kris Mitchell.

After a great spring season with the Terps, where he was the spring game MVP, the Baltimore native only saw action in six games in 2023, where he recorded seven receptions for 51 yards and a touchdown.

Chambers would end up leaving the program and soon declaring for the 2024 NFL Draft, but on Wednesday, a report from Chris Hummer of 247Sports stated that the 6'1", 195-pound wide receiver is set to enter the transfer portal as a graduate transfer.

Although Chambers is expected to receive plenty of interest once again from Power Five teams, maybe it would be to his benefit to go back to the group of five level where he can make one final push to build up his stock for the 2025 NFL Draft. Several G5 teams make sense as landing spots.

With the departure of Jamori Maclin, the North Texas Mean Green can use a wide receiver to pair up with whoever their next quarterback may be. Someone like Chambers would make a lot of sense, especially in a conference like the American Athletic that looks to get better year after year.

Marshall was just able to land former Wake Forrest quarterback Mitch Griffis along with Middle Tennessee State standout wide receiver Elijah Metcalf, who should project as a slot receiver. Chambers joining an up-and-coming Marshall offense would be a nice fit for a season.

Mountain West champions Boise State also need to replace leading receiver Eric McAlister, who is now with TCU.

Although there is the chance Chambers just sticks at the power five level, going to a program such as Arkansas who struggled or elsewhere in the SEC such as Vanderbilt, that is also somewhere he would thrive as a number one receiver.

While the early signing period ends this week, Chambers would technically have until April 1 to decide on a fall destination and sign with a team during the traditional signing period. Based on his body of work up to this point, it seems likely that a number of interested suitors will be known in the coming days.
