A Euless, Texas native, Leota is listed at 6'2" and 221 pounds. He appeared in two games in 2023, but did not register any statistics. He was battling an injury the majority of the fall.

In 2022, Leota appeared in all fourteen of North Texas' contests, with one start, when they made a run to the CUSA championship game. He had 23 tackles with 4.5 TFLs and 2.5 sacks with a forced fumble.

Leota used his redshirt season as a freshman in 2021,  so he should have two seasons of eligibility remaining.

LA Tech are entering their first season with new defensive coordinator Jeremiah Johnson on staff. The Bulldogs had the worst scoring defense in CUSA in 2023, allowing 33.4 points per game.
