The Canadian Football League's Ottawa Redblacks announced a series of roster moves on Tuesday. Included in that news was the signing of defensive back Elijah Blades. Blades spent the 2022 college football season at the University of Buffalo under head coach Maurice Linguist.

In 2022, Blades appeared in eight games for the Bulls, making 27 tackles with 1.5 for a loss and four passes defended.

Prior to his time with the Bulls, Blades spent the 2019 and 2020 seasons with Texas A&M, then spent the 2021 season at Florida. He totaled 17 appearances with 49 total tackles, four tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, and eight passes defended in FBS.

The California native originally began his career at the JUCO level with Arizona Western Community College, where he played two seasons. He was the #4 JUCO player in the 2019 class after totaling nine pass breakups, a fumble recovery, a blocked kick and two interceptions in two seasons.

In 2023, Ottawa missed the CFL playoffs with a 4-14 regular season record.

CFL training camps for the upcoming season are set to open on Sunday, May 14, 2024.
