With the NFL Combine beginning this weekend, ESPN NFL Draft expert Mel Kiper Jr. has released his latest predictions for the first round of the NFL Draft.

Only one prospect from the Group of Five ranks will crack the first 32 picks of the 2024 NFL Draft, in Kiper's opinion. The longtime analyst predicts that Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell will be selected with the #17 overall pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars. Kiper is the latest national analyst this month to include Mitchell in the top 20 picks of a mock draft.

"He was a shutdown player for the Rockets, picking off six passes while allowing quarterbacks to complete just 35.2% of their throws against him in coverage over the past two seasons," Kiper wrote about Mitchell. "He didn't allow a single touchdown in coverage in 2023."

Kiper also predicted that Mitchell would be the second of six cornerbacks selected in the first round.

Mitchell is scheduled to work out with the rest of the defensive backs on Friday, March 1 at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis.
