Now that the month of November has brought more midweek MAC football, the wild results are starting to roll in.

In the early slot on Wednesday, Bowling Green picked up their fifth win of the season, albeit by the skin of their teeth.

BGSU's contest against Ball State was close the whole way through, coming down to the final play. Ball State attempted to tie the game with a field goal from Jackson Courville, but the 50+-yard try was short of the goal posts.

Bowling Green quarterback Connor Bazelak completed 13 passes on 21 attempts for 128 yards and two touchdowns.

BGSU moved to 5-4 on the year, now one win short of achieving bowl eligibility for the second consecutive season.

The other MAC game on Wednesday featured two teams engaged in a rivalry battle since the 1920s.

Kent State hosted Akron in a battle for the Wagon Wheel trophy, which the Zips won for the first time since 2018. The two teams play every year since 1992. Akron rallied back from 17 points down in a game for the first time since 2018.

Akron quarterback Jeff Undercuffler Jr. rushed for the go-ahead touchdown with 26 seconds remaining. Kent State had a turnover on downs on the ensuing possession.

The MAC midweek slate continues next week with three Tuesday games: Ball State @ Northern Illinois, Central Michigan @ Western Michigan, and Ohio @ Buffalo.
