AP Poll: Air Force & Tulane Reach Top 25 After Week 7

Following Week 7 of FBS football, much of the country recognized the collective quality of the top of the Group of Five.

The Week Eight AP Top 25 Poll was released on Sunday morning, which revealed that two G5 teams had cracked the Top 25: the Air Force Falcons and the Tulane Green Wave. Air Force are #22 (245 votes) and Tulane (137 votes) are #23. 

This marks the first time in the 2023 season that two G5 teams have been ranked in the AP Top 25.

Air Force are ranked for the first time since 2019 while Tulane return to the rankings after last appearing in Week Two of this season. 

Other G5 teams that received votes were James Madison (70), Fresno St. (6), Liberty (5),  and Wyoming (4). James Madison had the highest vote count among all teams outside the Top 25. UCLA is ranked #25 with 122 votes.

The Falcons are coming off of a home win against Wyoming where they had more than 400 total yards of offense for the fifth time this season. Air Force are 6-0 to start the season and are bowl eligible for the third straight season. The Falcons will play their next game at Navy on October 21. 

Tulane are coming off a road win at Memphis this past Friday. At 5-1 overall and 2-0 in conference play, the Green Wave are now tied with SMU for the top spot in the AAC. Tulane will host North Texas next week as they look to secure postseason eligibility once again.
