College Football Playoff Rankings: Tulane At #24, Air Force At #25
The first set of College Football Playoff rankings of the 2023 season were revealed on ESPN on Halloween Night.
The Top 25 contained two G5 teams, but in an order that is sure to spark some conversation in the next week. The 8-0 Air Force Falcons came in at #25 while the 7-1 Tulane Green Wave came in at #24.
In both the AP Top 25 and the AFCA Coaches Poll, Air Force are ranked above Tulane.
James Madison are also ranked in the AP Top 25 and the AFCA Coaches Poll, but are not eligible for the postseason and, as a result, the College Football Playoff rankings.
In Week Nine, the Air Force Falcons earned a road win over in-state rival Colorado State while Tulane two-point road win over the Rice Owls.
While Air Force are ranked above Tulane in the other polls, Tulane's only loss this season has been to Ole Miss, who were ranked at #10 in Tuesday's CFP rankings.
College Football Playoff rankings will be released every Tuesday for the remainder of the regular season. The highest-ranked team from the Group of Five at the end of the regular season will earn a spot in a New Year's Six bowl game.
