Based on reports from 247Sports and On3 recruiting analysts, UNLV may have found a QB to help sustain their momentum in 2024.

Both the aforementioned outlets have posted reports indicating that Holy Cross University quarterback Matthew Sluka will make the move to the FBS with the Runnin' Rebels.

Sluka threw for 5916 yards at Holy Cross in four seasons at the FCS school with 59 touchdowns and 15 interceptions. He also rushed for 3,583. He's responsible for 97 total career TDs.

Sluka is listed at 6'3" and 216 pounds. In each of the last two seasons, Sluka was a finalist for the Walter Payton Award, awarded annually to the most outstanding offensive player in FCS.

The commitment would come at an interesting time for UNLV, on the heels of their best season as a team since 1984. Week One starter will return in 2024, but missed most of 2023 with injuries. 2023 Mountain West Freshman of the Year Jayden Maiava, who stepped in for Brumfield, has committed to USC out of the portal.

UNLV finished the 2023 season 9-5 and made their first appearance in the Mountain West title game.
