As they always do, the days after the conclusion of the regular season have brought a wave of coaching news. Some teams in the Group of Five have already made the decision to part ways with their respective head coaches. Marshall and Southern Miss, however, are sticking with their own leaders, but making other notable changes to their staff.

On the Marshall front, most of the changes were on the offensive side of the ball. Offensive coordinator Clint Trickett, offensive line coach Bill Legg, receivers coach Jovon Bouknight and linebacker coach Shannon Morrison have all been relieved of their duties, Charles Huff confirmed to multiple media outlets in the Huntington area on Sunday.

Marshall had the #11 scoring offense in the Sun Belt this regular season with 23.3 points per game. They also had the second-worst rushing offense in the league with 134 yards per game this season.

For Southern Miss, defensive coordinator Dan O’Brien and defensive line coach Brandon Lacy were let go as well as tight ends coach Cayden Cochran. The Golden Eagles were last in the Sun Belt in scoring defense and #127 nationally.

Notable in both cases, their respective Athletic Directors released statements in support of the head coach, while also acknowledging that the results of the season were unacceptable.
