Former Texas redshirt junior offensive lineman Sawyer Goram-Welch has transferred to Coastal Carolina, per his social media.
In a post that read “Let’s Ride #FAM1LY,” the 6-foot-4-inch, 310-pounder announced his intention to join the Chanticleers.

The former Longhorn entered the portal in mid-December, but remained with the team through the team's College Football Playoff national semifinal against Washington in the Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day.
Goram-Welch began his career on the Forty Acres as a defensive lineman before switching over to the offensive side of the ball after seeing action in five contests as a freshman and redshirt freshman in 2020 and 2021. In his four seasons, Goram-Welch recorded two tackles, one coming on special teams in the 2020 Alamo Bowl and the other coming in the latter stages of the Longhorns’ 58-0 win over Rice in 2021.
A 247Sports Composite three-star recruit coming out of Longview High, Goram-Welch was projected by national scouting analyst Gabe Brooks as a player who could develop into a Power-Five level starter on the defensive side of the ball but made the offensive line under Steve Sarkisian. Coming out of high school, Goram-Welch was rated by 247Sports as the No. 136 player in the state of Texas and the No. 85 rated defensive tackle, choosing Texas over offers from Oklahoma State, SMU and Florida International.
Goram-Welch has two seasons of eligibility remaining and will be eligible immediately as a grad transfer. It’s unclear what side of the ball he’ll play on for Tim Beck’s club, who are coming off of a Hawaii Bowl victory over San Jose State.
