Following Nick Saban's retirement, Kalen DeBoer was announced as the next head coach of the Alabama Crimson Tide. In the days since, DeBoer's coaching staff has begun to take shape with several notable names from around college football.

Two such names were head coaches of Group of Five programs in 2023, who made the choice to resign their posts and join DeBoer's staff.

South Alabama head coach Kane Wommack will serve as the Crimson Tide's defensive coordinator. He was 22-16 in three years with the Jaguars.

"I deeply appreciate Kane's service to our program, university and city," said USA Director of Athletics Joel Erdmann in a statement released this Tuesday. "His efforts propelled us forward and we wish him and [his wife] Melissa the very best."

University of Buffalo head coach Maurice Linguist also announced his resignation and will reportedly accept a position as a defensive assistant at Alabama. He was 14-23 in three seasons as head coach of the Bulls.

"I'd like to thank Coach Linguist for his leadership of the UB football program over the last three seasons," Buffalo AD Mark Alnutt said in a statement on Wednesday. "We wish Maurice and his family the best in the future."

DeBoer's staff has not been formally announced, but that is expected in the coming weeks with National Signing Day looming in early February.
