The 2nd Annual Cactus Jack HBCU Classic is set for Friday, February 16 through Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Minute Maid Park.

HOUSTON - The 2nd Annual Cactus Jack HBCU Classic is set for Friday, February 16 through Sunday, February 18, 2024 at Minute Maid Park. The Classic, is an annual, round-robin collegiate baseball classic designed by the Astros Foundation and Astros Youth Academy to highlight Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and their baseball programs.

The nine-game tournament will feature Houston-area Prairie View A&M and Texas Southern University, and four schools from neighboring Louisiana and Mississippi – Southern University, Grambling State, Jackson State, and Alcorn State University.

• Round-robin format with three (3) games each on Friday, Saturday and Sunday
• State to State game matchups (JSU vs Alcorn St.; GSU vs. SUBR; TSU vs. PVAMU)
• College fair hosted by the Astros Youth Academy highlighting over 100 colleges and universities.

As part of the Cactus Jack HBCU Classic, the Astros Foundation will be hosting several additional events including a happy hour, college fair, old school party and a gospel breakfast.

Divine 9 Happy Hour - Friday, February 16


We're rolling out the welcome mat for everyone with the kick-off the 2024 HBCU Classic with a special Divine 9 Happy Hour. Come out and enjoy an evening of baseball, great energy and good vibes at Minute Maid Park. The fun starts at 5:00 PM in the Phillips 66 Diamond Club. Fellowship with HBCU Alum and wear your best Greek/HBCU attire. Tickets are $50.00 per person and include food and admission to all Friday HBCU Classic games. Get your tickets today!

Conoco Phillips College Fair – Saturday, February 17

The Astros Foundation and Youth Academy Conoco Phillips College Fair is set to take place at Minute Maid Park from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Saturday, February 17, 2024. The college fair is free for high school students in 9th to 12th grade and their parents and will feature over 100 colleges, universities, and military recruiters. Each participating student will receive a ticket to attend the tournament on the day of the event. Registration is required so sign your student up today!

HBCU Classic 'Old School' Party – Saturday, February 17

Party with a purpose...come out to an ‘Old School’ Party on Saturday, February 17th at 7:00pm in the Gallagher Club at Minute Maid Park. The party will include live entertainment, old school music, hors d’oeuvres, a special celebration and more! All proceeds go to the Astros Foundation. Tickets are $100.00 per person and include admission to all Saturday HBCU Classic games. Be sure to get your tickets today!

Gospel Breakfast – Sunday, February 18

Join the Astros Foundation on Sunday, February 18th for the 2024 HBCU Classic Gospel Breakfast. Tickets are $25.00 per person and include admission to all HBCU Classic Sunday games at Minute Maid Park. Come enjoy a wonderful Sunday morning of food, gospel music and entertainment featuring gospel comedian, Marcus D. Wiley – get your tickets today!

The Breakfast will take place in the Phillips 66 Diamond Club. Patrons with HBCU Gospel Breakfast tickets may enter the ballpark through the Home Plate/Premium entrance. Event time is 9:00 – 10:30am.

The Astros Foundation is looking for vendors for the 2024 Cactus Jack HBCU Classic. Two booth sizes are available and each includes set-up for all nine games of the HBCU Classic. All booths will be located on the Main Concourse of Minute Maid Park.
