HBCU All-Star Signed By Minnesota for NBA Summer League

The Minnesota Timberwolves signed Kris Bankston out of Norfolk State to play in the 2023 NBA Summer League.

HOUSTON — The Minnesota Timberwolves signed Kris Bankston out of Norfolk State to play in the 2023 NBA Summer League. Bankston, 6-9 and 230 pounds, was an HBCU all-star player at the 2nd Annual HBCU All-Star Game in Houston, TX on Apr. 2. 

 "It feels great," HBCU All-Star Game CEO Travis Williams told HBCU Legends. "That's what it is all about" for the kids to have an opportunity in the NBA.

The Spartans C/F averaged 14.2 PPG, 7.1 RPG, 0.9 APG, and was fourth in the country with 68.8 FG%.

Bankston is a native of Little Rock, Arkansas spent four seasons with the Little Rock Trojans before transferring to Norfolk State to play alongside 2x MEAC Player of the Year Joe Bryant Jr.

In college, Kris Bankston had 143 game appearances, 98 starts, and averaged 22.1 MPG. He scored 70.8% of his field goals, 28.6% from beyond the arc, and 58.2% at the charity stripe, with 5.1 RPG, 0.9 APG, 1.1 BPG, and 8.8 PPG.
