Pillow Resigns From Coaching Florida A&M Women's Basketball
Florida A&M announced the resignation of its Florida A&M women's basketball team coach, Shalon Pillow. Many were surprised when she left the program after leading it for three years, just as FAMU was about to start their upcoming year's training session. Coach Pillow's final day will be August 1, 2023. Now, vice president and director of athletics Tiffani-Dawn Sykes will focus on recruiting, interviewing, and landing a replacement for Pillow.
"I want to thank Coach Pillow for the years of service she has provided FAMU," Vice President and Director of Athletics Tiffani-Dawn Sykes said. "I wish her the best as she prepares for the next chapter in her professional career.
"Right now, my focus is on supporting our student-athletes. Many of them just arrived on campus last week for summer school, and I want to ensure that this is a seamless transition for them academically and athletically. I look forward to identifying the next leader of FAMU Women's Basketball in the coming days."
During her two seasons as the Lady Rattlers' head coach, Pillow had a 4-14 SWAC record. However, they did manage to secure a huge non-conference win against Georgia State in the 2022-23 season.
"I am very thankful for the opportunity to lead the women's basketball program over the last three years," Pillow noted. "I am more than grateful to have had the opportunity of working with the young women on the team and be part of their development on and off the court."
