Taylor Rooks Promotes 'International Female Ride Day' Riding A Polaris Slingshot

Multi-talented broadcaster and journalist, Taylor Rooks, serves as a brand ambassador for Polaris to promote the 17th International Female Ride Day.

HOUSTON — The multi-talented journalist Taylor Rooks was in Houston, Texas, to promote the 17th Annual International Female Ride Day® 2023 (IFRD) by test-driving a Polaris Slingshot. Polaris chose Rooks as a brand ambassador for its powersports products promoting diversity of women choosing to ride offroad vehicles, motorcycles, three-wheeled vehicles, boats, or other powersport vehicles. As the official partner of International Female Ride Day (IFRD), Polaris invited Taylor Rooks to test her skill level and "Just Ride" before the event on Saturday, May 6.

One reason IFRD began was to "continue to empower women," Rooks said to HBCU Legends. "That's what International Female Ride Day is about. It's for experienced riders, intermediate riders, and new riders. You can try something new, go out and have an adventure, and see how you feel after you're on the motorcycle or a Slingshot. Polaris has continued to be intentional about growing the space with women riders and diversifying in terms of people of color that ride as well. So it's been really great to be a part of and learn all of the things they are doing to make sure that riding is accessible to everybody."

Polaris commemorates IFRD with group rides on off-road and on-road terrains, dealer events, and demo rides. The aim is to encourage and appreciate women's participation in powersports in the U.S. and globally.

"As the global leader in powersports, we want to help build an active and thriving industry and women riders are a central part of that — it's why we participate in events like IFRD, to celebrate women riding enthusiasts and inspire even more to join," Pam Kermisch, Polaris chief customer growth officer and fellow woman rider, mentioned.

Rooks told her friends about her first Slingshot experience with Porsche Taylor of Black Girls Ride saying, "I learned that riding a Slingshot is fun, feels new, and makes you feel good while riding." Over the past five years, women's power vehicle riders have grown by 10%, and the numbers will continue to rise. Exposing more diverse ethnic groups and cultures to powersports will be a point of emphasis for Polaris and the International Female Ride Day event on Saturday, May 6.

"I am thrilled that Polaris is partnering with International Female Ride Day again for 2023," Vicki Gray, founder of IFRD, noted. "Their support has been and continues to be invaluable in propelling International Female Ride Day to even great heights. I'm grateful for the synergies we share and their absolute support of our vision – highlighting and supporting women riders while expanding equity in powersports."

Experience the thrill of the great outdoors with Polaris' Slingshot and its fantastic range of powersports products. The International Female Ride Day (IFRD) event is taking place worldwide to encourage women to take part in outdoor rides and enjoy the beauty of nature. Post and share your thrilling ride on social media in a video or photo using the hashtags #IFRD2023, #FocusFemaleForward, and #internationalfemalerideday.
