Former Texas Southern Quarterback Andrew Body Commits To His New Team, The Alabama State Hornets

Andrew Body announces he's staying in the conference, but will be playing in the SWAC East.

HOUSTON - Andrew Body, former quarterback for the Texas Southern Tigers, announced that he will play for the Alabama State Hornets football team during the 2024 season. After requesting a medical redshirt for an injured shoulder, he departs Texas Southern with two seasons of NCAA eligibility.

Body entered the NCAA transfer portal on Dec. 1, 2023.

During his tenure at Texas Southern, Andrew has completed 304 of 537 passes for 4,103 yards, 27 touchdowns, 13 interceptions, and a passer efficiency of 132.54. He rushed 236 times for 1,287 yards and nine touchdowns in offensive coordinator David Marsh's system.

By signing Andrew Body, head coach Eddie Robinson Jr. will have one of the most dynamic quarterbacks at his disposal. Andrew Body is a dual-threat weapon that defensive coordinators across the SWAC had to gameplan for defending.

His final game with the Tigers was in the annual Labor Classic against Prairie View A&M. He completed 18 of 38 passes for 286 yards, three touchdowns, and three interceptions in the 37-34 OT loss to the Panthers.
