NEW ORLEANS - Quarterback Davius Richard sustained a right leg injury on a touchdown run in the first quarter of the 2024 Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl. Richard rushed to the left, and a defender landed awkwardly on his leg. The medical staff called for a stretcher and carted Richard off the field.

Last night, Richard was named the 2024 Black College Football Player of the Year co-winner by the Black College Football Hall of Fame committee.

NFL scouts were looking at Richard as a dual-threat quarterback who ran 4.5 seconds in the 40-yard dash at the 2024 HBCU Combine. He had an outstanding week at the HBCU Legacy Bowl practices, with scouts from several NFL teams evaluating his talent for the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft in April.
