Doug Williams 'Feels Great' For Allstate Partnership and BCFHOF Induction Ceremony
HOUSTON — Doug Williams, the co-founder of the Black College Football Hall of Fame and HBCU Legacy Bowl, is off to a tremendous start for both organizations this weekend. First, the BCFHOF kicked off the announcement of its multi-year partnership with Allstate becoming the HBCU Legacy Bowl's title sponsor.
"It feels great," Williams exclaimed to HBCU Legends. "At the end of the day, this is what we wanted to do. Allstate has committed to be a full-time title partner for the game. "We certainly appreciate their commitment and what they've done. What else could you ask for? I wish more corporations would step up like Allstate. They are for the commitment to helping these young men get the necessary exposure in front of professional scouts and executives. We strive for those opportunities, especially with Allstate as our title sponsor."
On Saturday evening in Atlanta, Williams, and James "Shack" Harris will welcome the eight inductees into the Black College Football Hall of Fame induction ceremony. The Class of 2023 will include Leslie Frazier (Alcorn State University), Henry "Killer" Lawrence (Florida A&M University), Albert Lewis (Grambling State University), Jim Marsalis (Tennessee State University), Tyrone McGriff (Florida A&M University), Elijah Pitts (Philander Smith College), Johnnie Walton (Elizabeth City State University), and Coach Pete Richardson (Southern University, Winston Salem State University).
"Every year when we have this weekend, I feel good because we're recognizing people who should have been recognized a long time ago," Williams noted. "And every year, we bring people in, and that's what it's all about."
The Class of 2023 will be honored at the 14th Annual Black College Football Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, presented by the Atlanta Falcons at 7:00 PM ET on Saturday, June 10. The Induction Ceremony occurs at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta, Georgia.
