HBCU Football Schedule, How To Watch | Week 8

The HBCU football schedule and how to watch for Week 8.

HOUSTON — It's Week 8 of the HBCU football season, and tonight's featured SWAC game takes place in Houston as the Texas Southern Tigers (2-4, 1-2 SWAC) host the No. 18 Florida A&M Rattlers (5-1, 4-0 SWAC). FAMU will make their first visit to Texas in 45 years since Rudy Hubbard's NCAA Division I-AA National Championship team.

The showdown between Florida A&M and Texas Southern will occur at Shell Energy Stadium with a 7 PM CT kickoff. ESPN+ will broadcast with Butch Alsandor (play-by-play) and Jorge Vargas (analyst) handling the game call.

Power Teams Going Into Week 8

  1. North Carolina Central
  2. Florida A&M Rattlers
  3. Benedict College
  4. Virginia State
  5. Tennessee State

Top-5 Games of the Week

  1. Florida A&M at Texas Southern - Willie Simmons returns home as the TSU Tigers hope to spoil the Rattlers party. (Prediction: UPSET - Tigers Win)
  2. Jackson State at Mississippi Valley State - The Tigers need to respond strong after falling to Alabama State at Homecoming (Prediction: Tigers Win)
  3. Johnson C. Smith at Fayetteville State - CIAA Southern Division seeding ramifications in this match. Fayetteville is undefeated in conference action at 5-0. (Prediction: Broncos Win)
  4. Norfolk State Spartans vs. Howard Bison - Howard hosts a wounded NSU team. The Bison will be too tough to beat at Homecoming. (Prediction: Bison Win)
  5. Allen Yellow Jackets vs. Miles Bears - Allen and Miles are knotted at 4-1 in the conference. (Prediction: UPSET - Yellow Jackets)
