2024 Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl Head Coaches Announced
HOUSTON - The 2024 Allstate HBCU Legacy Bowl will feature four of the top HBCU head football coaches, leading Team Gaither and Team Robinson. The head coaches for Team Robinson are Chennis Berry (South Carolina State/Benedict) and Willie Simmons (Florida A&M). Larry Scott (Howard) and Dr. Alvin Parker (Virginia Union) will lead Team Gaither.
“It is a tremendous honor to be able to represent the SWAC in the HBCU Legacy Bowl," Coach Williams Simmons noted. "I look forward to again working with the best football players that HBCUs have to offer, as well as working alongside Coach Chennis Berry and his staff!”
"You have 32 teams that come there to watch," Coach Berry told HBCU Legends. "You got eyes on you every day. So everything, how you dress, how you speak, how you interact, all those life lessons that I try to instill in my program...I was pouring that into those guys that I only knew for a week. And they understood that because every day is an interview. What a great experience. A first-class event."
The HBCU Legacy Bowl has invited 100 HBCU players to participate in the this season's annual contest in New Orleans, Louisiana.
It will be an exciting game to have the National Championship head coaches versus the runner-ups of HBCU Division I and II. Willie Simmons, the HBCU Division I Coach of the Year and National Championship winner, and Chennis Berry, the HBCU Division II Coach of the Year and National Championship winner, will partner at the showdown. While Larry Scott and Dr. Alvin Parker will work together to have take on the national championship coaches.
The game will take place at Yulman Stadium, Tulane University, on Saturday, February 24th, 2024. Kickoff is at 3 PM CT and the game will be broadcast live on the NFL Network.
