SWAC Media Day Preview | 2023

A preview of the 2023 SWAC Football Media Day.

Most of the HBCU sports media world will descend on the Sheraton-Birmingham Hotel for the Southwestern Athletic Conference's 2023 SWAC Football Media Day at 10:00 AM CT on Tuesday, July 25, in Birmingham, Alabama.  The HBCU football media tour will culminate with the SWAC after the SIAC, CIAA, and MEAC put on excellent events for their respective football conferences.

Expect the twelve SWAC head football coaches, a few assistant coaches, student-athletes, athletic directors, SIDs, PR departments, and supporting staff to be in attendance for the media to quiz ahead of the 2023 season.  Rookie head coaches T.C. Taylor (Jackson State), Alonzo Hampton (UAPB), Kendrick Wade (MVSU), and Raymond Woodie (Bethune-Cookman) will be making their SWAC Media Day debuts.  Familiar names in the coaching ranks like Willie Simmons, Fred McNair, Hue Jackson, Bubba McDowell, Eric Dooley, Clarence McKinney, Eddie Robinson Jr., and Connell Maynor will have media availability.

Reporters will also have access to the two most-experience quarterbacks in the SWAC, Andrew Body (Texas Southern) and Jeremy Moussa (Florida A&M).   One of the most talked-about defensive players, Sundiata Anderson, will be in attendance for Grambling State.  The top running backs from a season ago, Jarveon Howard (Alcorn State) and Ahmad Antoine (Prairie View) will also field a host of questions.

Tiffany Greene and Jay Walker of ESPN will begin their broadcast at 10:00 AM on ESPN+. SDN, Radio Row, and Virtual Interviews will be for the coaches.   The players will be seated at their team's tables and interviewed by ESPN. Outlets will be able to interview the student-athletes upon request(s).

Expect the announcement of the 2023 SWAC Preseason honors and predicted order of finish early in the ESPN broadcast.
