SWAC Statement On Alabama State's Student-Athlete Incident

The Southwestern Athletic Conference has released an official statement regarding the sideline incident that occurred during the Alabama State-Florida A&M game.

The Southwestern Athletic Conference has issued an official statement regarding the incident that took place between a student-athlete from Alabama State and the stadium staff at Florida A&M during the football game on September 23rd. A representative from the SWAC office has shared the statement with HBCU Legends.

"The Southwestern Athletic Conference is aware of the incident that transpired at the conclusion of the Alabama State at Florida A&M football game involving an ASU student-athlete. 

The Southwestern Athletic Conference upholds an extremely high standard of good sportsmanship and does not condone unsportsmanlike behavior of any kind.

The Southwestern Athletic Conference has a zero tolerance policy regarding unsportsmanlike conduct. 

The Conference Office will work with the two respective member institutions to review all relevant information to ensure that appropriate action is taken against any behavior that violates the league’s code of ethics and conduct." 

Alabama State has released a statement regarding an incident that occurred earlier today. The attached video contains graphic content and viewer discretion is advised.

On Saturday, Sept. 23, Florida A&M beat Alabama State 23-10 at Bragg Memorial Stadium in Tallahassee, FL. Florida A&M improved to 3-1 overall and 2-0 in the SWAC conference while Alabama State fell to 1-2 overall and 1-1 in the SWAC conference.
