Fisk University gymnast Morgan Price placed eighth in the floor exercises at the 2023 USA Gymnastics Women’s Collegiate National Championships in Denton, Texas.

Morgan Price All-Around Scores:

  1. Vault: 9.750
  2. Bars: 9.750
  3. Beam: 9.000
  4. Floor: 9.900

Her cumulative score was 38.40.

Price tied for 8th place out of the 13 gymnasts participating in the all-around exercises.  The low beam score was due to a fall and affected her chance to medal.

Velandra Brochi of the Air Force won the women's all-around title with a cumulative score of 39.125.

According to a USAG news report, "on floor exercise, Morgan Price of Fisk and Mara Johnson of Texas Women’s tied as top qualifiers with a 9.900."

Morgan has two teammates that will participate in the individual events finals:

  • Liberty Mora (beam)
  • Zyia Coleman (floor)

The event schedule will begin with the Team and All-Around competition session at 2 PM CT on Thur. April 6. The Team Final is kickoff at 7 PM CT on Fri. April 7. The Individual Finals will occur at 1 PM CT on Saturday, April 8. Live streaming will be available for purchase.

The top-five gymnasts on each apparatus from each semifinal, with a limit of three per school, have qualified for Saturday's event finals beginning at 1 PM CT.

In the 2022-23 season, Fisk University became the first HBCU school to compete against NCAA and NAIA programs at women's gymnastics competitions. All year, the ladies of Fisk challenged the "bluebloods of ladies gymnastics" and scored high in programs.

It's quite an accomplishment for Morgan Price and his teammates to be invited to the national championships. Expect massive improvement and eventual wins from the Fiskites in the gymnasiums for 2023-24.

HBCU Legends will post the individual finals scores once announced.
