Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders will debut as the Jackson State University football program's head coach on Sunday afternoon against Edward Waters College.

Sunday's contest will be the first Spring game in the history of both schools.

Coach Prime will field a team that is an overwhelming favorite over the small Jacksonville, Florida HBCU. According to the JSU football program's website, "the Tigers return several starters on defense and are led by six-time All-American, reigning SWAC Defensive Player of the Year and Spring 2021 SWAC Defensive Player of the Year, Keonte Hampton."

Edward Waters' head football coach Greg Ruffin will begin his fourth season in the college's 71st season. In 2020, EWC christened their football program's $4.3 million Community Field and Stadium. Coach Ruffin's team will play SWAC and SIAC opponents.

The football game will be held in Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium in Jackson, MS, on February 21 at 1:00 PM CT.
