BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Fresh off a commitment from five-star small forward Liam McNeeley, Indiana will soon know the fate of another major recruiting target.

Five-star guard Johnuel "Boogie" Fland will announce his college decision on Friday at 2 p.m. ET at Archbishop Stepinac High School in White Plains, N.Y. Fland has narrowed his list to three schools: Indiana, Kentucky and Alabama.

The announcement will come on the same day as Hoosier Hysteria, which is set to begin at 7:30 p.m. ET at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

Mike Woodson and the entire Indiana staff have become frequent visitors at Archbishop Stepinac High School, visiting Fland at least three times since the start of September.

And based on a recent report, the running for Fland seems to be between Woodson and coach John Calipari.

"Fland officially cut his list down to three in Alabama, Indiana and Kentucky but it has become a very tight battle between the Hoosiers and Wildcats and a decision could come seemingly any week," Travis Branham of 247 Sports wrote on Oct. 7.

Fland is widely considered one of the top players nationwide in the class of 2024, especially among guards. Recruiting sites Rivals and On3 rank him the No. 1 point guard, and he's ranked within the top 35 overall and top three among point guards by 247 Sports and the ESPN Top 100.

He was measured at just over 6-foot-2 in shoes this past summer, according to a source with access to 2023 USA Basketball data. During 22 games for the PSA Cardinals on the 2023 Nike EYBL circuit, Fland averaged 14.1 points, 3.4 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game, according to a source. He recently participated in the USA Basketball Junior National Team Minicamp in Colorado Springs and was listed as a top performer.

Indiana currently has one commitment in the class of 2024, McNeeley, who called out Fland and five-star center Derik Queen on Sunday afternoon after announcing his decision to join the Hoosiers.

"My first call would be to the man right here, Derik Queen," McNeeley said. "We need Derik Queen to come be a Hoosier."

"Boogie Fland. That call is coming. You know it," McNeeley said.
