BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Drexel transfer Amari Williams plans to visit Indiana April 19-20, as first reported by On3's Joe Tipton. That visit coincides with Indiana hosting Kanaan Carlyle, a 6-foot-3 guard from Stanford.

He'll also visit St. John's, Creighton and Florida in April.

Williams is a 6-foot-10, 265-pound center with one year of remaining eligibility. He made the first team All-Colonial Athletic Association as a senior and won three consecutive CAA Defensive Player of the Year awards. Across 90 games from his sophomore through senior seasons, Williams blocked 181 shots, roughly two per game.

In 2023-24, Williams averaged 12.2 points, 7.8 rebounds and 1.8 blocks per game while making 32 starts and playing 22.9 minutes per game. As a junior in 2022-23, he posted career-high numbers with 13.7 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.2 blocks per game.

Williams did the vast majority of his scoring around the rim, shooting an efficient 52.6% on 2-point attempts. He's not much of a 3-point shooting threat, but made 8-of-26 attempts, or 30.8%, from beyond the arc across his four-year career at Drexel.

Williams is ranked as the No. 2 player in the transfer portal by Rivals, No. 9 by On3 and No. 26 by 247 Sports. He's originally from Nottingham, England.

Starting center Kel'el Ware – the Hoosiers' leading scorer, rebounder and shot blocker – has declared for the 2024 NBA draft as a projected first-round pick, opening a hole at the center position if he remains in the draft. Backup forward Anthony Walker graduated, and backup center Payton Sparks transferred back to Ball State, so Indiana has plenty of available minutes in the front court.

Malik Reneau is returning to Indiana for his junior season. He mostly played power forward as a sophomore, averaging 15.4 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, but he has some experience at center in his two years with the Hoosiers.
