Game Time, TV Set For Indiana's Sunday Showdown With Miami in Second Round
ALBANY, N.Y. — Playing late at night might bother some Indiana fans, but the players don't mind it one bit. That's a good thing, because they Hoosiers will play late on Sunday night, too,
The Hoosiers, the No. 4 seed in the Midwest region of the NCAA Tournament, will play No. 5 seed Miami from the ACC on Sunday in the second round. The game will start at 8:40 p.m. ET. The Big Ten-ACC showdown will start at approximately 8:40 p.m. ET and will be televised on TNT.
Indiana advanced thanks to a 71-60 victory over Kent State on Friday night in a game that didn't end until 12:45 a.m. ET It was their first victory in the first round of the NCAA Tournament since 2016. Miami played the earlier game, and needed a big second-half comeback to knock off Drake 63-56.
Indiana is now 23-11 on the season. Miami is 26-7, and finished the ACC regular season with a 15-5 record. Indianapolis native Nigel Pack, who transferred to Miami from Kansas State in the offseason, led the Hurricanes with 21 points.
Race Thompson, who scored 20 points in Indiana's win, said they're used to play late-night games and they don't mind. He said most of them are night owls anyway.
"Me personally, I'm a night owl so when I get to around 10, I'm good,'' Thompson said. "We are young and we don't go to bed until about midnight anyway. Tonight was fine. Right now it's late, but we'll go back to the hotel and get some ice and get to bed.
"A lot of game were late starts, like the 9 o'clock starts or later. We're used to playing late games so that won't bother us at all.''
