BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – After a close loss to No. 2 Kansas on Saturday, Indiana has a quick turnaround for Tuesday's game against the Morehead State Eagles.

Last year, Indiana opened the season with a 35-point win over Morehead State, a team that went on to win the Ohio Valley regular season title. The Eagles were picked to repeat as champions again in 2023-24.

Meet the coaches

  • Preston Spradlin, Morehead State: In his eighth season at Morehead State, Spradlin has a 122-103 overall record and a 73-53 record in Ohio Valley Conference play. After winning no more than 13 games in each of his first four seasons, Spradlin has won at least 22 games each of the last three seasons. The Eagles won the OVC regular season title last year and reached the NCAA Tournament in 2021. Spradlin was previously a Morehead State assistant coach and a graduate assistant at Kentucky under John Calipari.
  • Mike Woodson, Indiana: Woodson is in his third season at Indiana with a 51-29 overall record and a 23-19 mark in regular season Big Ten play. Woodson has NBA head coaching experience with the Atlanta Hawks from 2004-10 and the New York Knicks from 2012-14. Woodson played at Indiana University from 1976-80, and was named the Big Ten's Most Valuable Player as a senior under coach Bob Knight. He was the 12th overall pick in the 1980 NBA Draft, and played for various teams from 1980-91, averaging 14 points over 786 games.
