Big Ten Tournament trends: In both the 2021 and 2022 seasons, Michigan was in Indiana’s position with the double-bye. But the Wolverines lost their opening game twice. Last season, Michigan lost in the quarterfinals after its single-bye. The Wolverines, with another single-bye, look to get to the semifinals for the first time since 2020. Indiana is the No. 3 seed for the first time ever. Indiana is 23-30 in the tournament, losing in the championship in 2022 and in the semifinals last season. Its lone tournament championship was in 2002.
Recent results/series history: Indiana played Michigan once this season, winning 80-59 at home in January. Unanimous All-Big Ten First-Teamer Mackenzie Holmes led with 20 points, and Sara Scalia and Sydney Parrish combined to make seven 3-pointers for 30 points. Michigan junior guard Laila Phelia, who also made the Big Ten First Team, led the Wolverines with 23 points. In that game, the Hoosiers became the first team this century to open making their first 15 straight shots. Indiana leads the all-time series 49-29 and has won the past three meetings.
