Armaan Franklin Game-Time Decision for Indiana on Thursday

Indiana sophomore guard Armaan Franklin has missed basically three full games with a high ankle sprain and coach Archie Miller didn't sound optimistic that he will be able to play on Thursday night against Purdue.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana would love to have all hands on deck Thursday when it tries to snap a seven-game losing streak to arch-rival Purdue, but it looks like we won't know about Armaan Franklin's availability until tipoff.

Franklin, the sophomore guard from Indiana is who is Indiana's second-leading scorer and top perimeter defense, rolled an ankle badly early in the Maryland game on Jan. 4. He suffered a high ankle sprain and couldn't return that night, and also missed both games of the recent road trip to Wisconsin and Nebraska.

Archie Miller met with the media on Wednesday and said Franklin still hasn't been able to do much on the practice floor.

"He's definitely not 100 percent, but he's continuing to do as much as he can," Indiana coach Archie Miller said. "It's a legitimate sprain. He's done some running and he's shot a little bit, but it will come down to how he feels at game time.

"We're trying to focus on getting him back as soon as we can, but he has to be effective."

Franklin has been an important piece for the Hoosiers all season. He's been a lockdown defender on each opponent's top scoring threat, and he's also be Indiana's best three-point shooter. Despite basically missing three full games – he only played seven minutes against the Terrapins – he still leads the Hoosiers with 20 made three-pointers. He's 20-for-42 from deep, good for 47.6 percent.

Indiana is 2-1 in Franklin's absence, with wins over Maryland and Nebraska and a tough double-overtime loss at Wisconsin. Others have stepped up in his stead. Guards Al Durham and Rob Phinisee, who were struggling early in the season, each have had three bounce-back games, and Anthony Leal and Jerome Hunter have hit some big shots coming off the bench.

Indiana is 8-5 on the season and 3-3 in the Big Ten. Purdue has the same record, evening things up with a big road win at Michigan State last Friday.

Purdue has dominated the rivalry lately, winning seven games in a row over the past four years. The two teams meet again on the final day of the regular season (March 7) in West Lafayette.

Tipoff is at 7 p.m. ET, and the game will be televised on FOX Sports 1.
