Indiana's Jackson-Davis, Hood-Schifino Earn Weekly Big Ten Awards

Indiana star forward Trayce Jackson-Davis earned his fourth consecutive Big Ten Player of the Week award on Monday, and point guard Jalen Hood-Schifino was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week.

The accolades keep rolling in for this Indiana duo.

On Monday, Trayce Jackson-Davis was named Co-Big Ten Player of the Week along with Northwestern guard Boo Buie. Indiana freshman point guard Jalen Hood-Schifino was named Big Ten Freshman of the Week.

"I feel like me and him are one of the best duos in the country, honestly," Jackson-Davis said Saturday after defeating Michigan.

This marks the fourth consecutive week that Jackson-Davis has won the award, and it's the third overall recognition for Hood-Schifino. The duo led Indiana to a 66-60 win over Rutgers on Tuesday, followed by a 62-61 win at Michigan on Saturday.

Jackson-Davis totaled 20 points, 18 rebounds and six assists against Rutgers, becoming the first player in Indiana men's basketball history to score 2,000 points and grab 1,000 rebounds in their career. He also became the school's all-time leader in blocked shots on Jan. 25 when Indiana beat Minnesota. On Saturday, Jackson-Davis scored 28 points with 11 rebounds, three assists and two blocks. He played all 40 minutes, and he has no plans to slow down now.

"It's the end of the season now, ain't no time to be tired," Jackson-Davis said. "We've got to just keep pushing and keep carrying through, and we can rest after the season."

Hood-Schifino contributed seven points, three assists and three rebounds against Rutgers, and he scored 21 points with five assists and four rebounds to help defeat Michigan. Hood-Schifino has embraced a larger role running the Indiana offense with Xavier Johnson sidelined with a foot injury, and he's as confident as they come as a freshman.

"I know the work I put in," Hood-Schifino said. "I believe in God, so God puts work in and I feel like I'm unstoppable. Any time we're going through ups and downs, I just mentally stay composed, and I feel like I'm built for any moment."

With Jackson-Davis and Hood-Schifino leading the way, Indiana has won eight of its last nine games and moved up to No. 14 in the AP top-25 poll. The Hoosiers are now tied for second place in the Big Ten with Northwestern, their opponent on Wednesday night. Following Saturday's win at Michigan, Jackson-Davis spoke about the success he's had playing with Hood-Schifino.

"Our chemistry is very high," Jackson-Davis continued. "When we set ball screen and rolls, a lot of bigs, especially in this league, like to drop. If they drop, then he's getting to his middy, and he's got one of the best pull-up games in the country. Then if they help up, he's got really good touch on throwing the lob. So I just think we read off each other, just going through this season and practicing and getting game experience has really helped us."
