Indiana's Kiandra Browne to Get X-Rays After Injury in Big Ten Women's Tournament
MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — In the Hoosiers' Friday matchup with Michigan State in the Big Ten Women's Basketball Tournament quarterfinals, junior forward Kiandra Browne was hip checked and fell to the floor with a right leg/hip injury.
In Browne's first minute of play in the second quarter, Michigan State senior forward Taiyier Parks fouled her, appearing to hip check her in the process.
"I watched it," Indiana head coach Teri Moren said. "As we know, she's had two hip surgeries. She is on her way, I think, to get X-rays off site."
Moren said she doesn't have a big update on what exactly the injury is yet, but she hopes the team will know more Friday night.
Upon falling to the ground, Browne clutched her right leg and waited for Indiana staff to rush to her assistance. She laid there wincing on the court in a quiet Target Center. After her crying subsided, she was lifted onto a wheelchair while Hoosier personnel tried to keep her right leg extended.
"I can tell you this — she was in a whole lot of pain when I got out to her," Moren said. "Just hoping and praying for the best for K.B. because she has been through a lot in her short time at IU with injuries and what not, just had some bad luck."
Browne has been out nearly the whole season with a right thumb injury and has played less than 10 minutes for two points this 2022-23 campaign. The Montreal, Quebec, Canada native will be missed on the court as the Hoosiers anxiously await her exact diagnosis.
