BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Welcome to the 2023 Division I NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament bracketology by ESPN. The Indiana Hoosiers are the projected No. 1 seed for the Greenville region and No. 2 overall seed in the tournament.

The tournament experienced some changes last season as the field expanded to 68 teams, which will continue on this year. The usual four regional sites have now reduced to two — Greenville, S.C. and Seattle, Washington.

The Final Four and championship title game will be played on March 31 and April 2 at American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.

Before we look at Indiana's projected No. 1 seed in the Greenville region two, let's review how the tournament works.

Thirty-two teams receive automatic bids to compete in the tournament after winning their respective conference titles, and 36 teams are chosen at large by the NCAA Selection Committee.

These teams are then placed into four regional divisions and seeded 1-16. The four-lowest seeded automatic bids and the four-lowest seeded at-large bids will compete in the First Four round where the four winners will earn their way into the field of 64 teams.
