No. 15 Indiana Hosts Evansville Monday Night After Weeklong Break

Indiana women's basketball has two more non-conference games prior to resuming Big Ten play. The first will be Monday night at home versus Evansville, which lost by 50-plus points to Michigan State in November.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — No. 15 Indiana women’s basketball (8-1), winners of seven straight games, will return to Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall Monday night in the team’s first contest since their Big Ten opener win at Rutgers two weekends ago. Indiana hosts Evansville (2-7), presumably another comfortable non-conference win. The Hoosiers are unbeaten at home.

Evansville got past Lindenwood 70-68 on Saturday afternoon. In November, the Purple Aces traveled to Michigan State and allowed 105 points in their 56-point loss, their only Power Five opponent before Indiana. Evansville is led by sophomore guard Kynidi Mason Striverson, averaging nearly 17 points per game. Freshman forward Maggie Hartwig is second, averaging about 12 points. Hartwig posts Evansville’s best three-point percentage at 9-for-24, or 37.5%.

Hoosier sharpshooter Sara Scalia went 1-for-6 beyond the arc at Rutgers, the senior’s lowest percentage since shooting 1-for-8 from distance in the team’s 32-point defeat at Stanford in the second game of the season. Besides that West Coast trip, the Hoosiers have shot their lowest percentage beyond the arc this season in back-to-back games, combining to go 8-for-38. Ups and downs for individuals, as well as the team, can happen. So it's bound to improve.

Monday night’s matchup tips off at 7 p.m. ET at Assembly Hall and will air on Big Ten-plus.
