BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – It's another top-25 matchup at Assembly Hall, this time with No. 18 Indiana hosting No. 24 Rutgers in a crucial Big Ten showdown. Rutgers enters the game 8-4 in Big Ten play, while the Hoosiers stand at 7-5. The Scarlet Knights defeated Indiana 63-48 back in December, and the Hoosiers are hungry to avenge that loss.

Welcome to our live blog, where we'll keep you updated on all the news and views from the game live from press row. We'll also throw in some highlights and opinion as well. All the latest items are at the top, so just keep refreshing and you won't miss a beat.

8:30 p.m. – FINAL: Indiana 66, Rutgers 60. The Hoosiers withstood countless comeback attempts from Rutgers to secure a gritty win. Indiana and Rutgers are now tied in the Big Ten standings at 8-5. Both teams protected home court in the season-long series. Next up is a road game against Michigan on Saturday.

8:28 p.m. – Miller Kopp is fouled after Indiana broke the Rutgers press, and he goes 2-for-2 from the free throw line to give Indiana a 66-58 lead with 9.6 seconds left. That should do it.

8:26 p.m. – Spencer grabs an offensive rebound off a missed Rutgers free throw, and he's fouled by Jackson-Davis on the put-back. Spencer goes 2-for-2 at the line, and Indiana's lead is down to six points with 18.7 left .

8:24 p.m. – Indiana gets a crucial defensive stop, and Jackson-Davis is fouled by Mulcahy after grabbing his 17th rebound. Jackson-Davis goes 1-for-2 from the free throw line, and Indiana leads 63-56 with 30.6 remaining.

8:22 p.m. – Jalen Hood-Schifino missed a contested jump shot and Trayce Jackson-Davis' put-back went long, but Trey Galloway was there to clean things up. He made the put-back layup through a Rutgers foul, but missed the following free throw. Indiana leads 63-56 with 45 seconds to go.

8:18 p.m. – Thompson airballs a fadeaway jumper, but it falls right to Jackson-Davis, who lays it up for two points. Mulcahy missed the front end of the bonus, so Indiana gets the ball back leading by five with less than two minutes to play.

8:14 p.m. – Rutgers cuts it back to a three-point Indiana with a layup from Derek Simpson with just over three minutes remaining. Woodson calls a timeout as Indiana leads 59-56 at the 2:50 mark. Rutgers has been relentless on the offensive glass, and it's led to 14 second-chance points.

8:12 p.m. – Omoruyi picks up his fourth foul. Looked like he didn't see Trey Galloway and just ran him over. He stays in the game, as Rutgers needs him to guard Jackson-Davis. Indiana should go right at him to try to foul him out. Mulcahy is called for a foul on the next Indiana possession, and Thompson goes 2-for-2 to give Indiana a 59-52 lead.

8:08 p.m. – Banks gets called for a foul chasing after a loose ball. Looked like multiple Rutgers players were doing the same, and Woodson can't believe the call. Indiana got lucky that Rutgers missed an open 3 on that possession before the looser ball, so the Hoosiers cling to a 57-50 lead with 5:49 remaining.

8:05 p.m. – Omoruyi's shoe fell off while scoring a basket, and he played most of the next defensive possession without it. McConnell fouled Jackson-Davis, which looked like a foul just to stop play and get Omoruyi's shoe back. Indiana leads by five with 6:30 to go.

8:00 p.m. – That's now four fouls on Kopp, who will stay in the game until the next dead ball. Banks set to check in. Rutgers trims the lead back down to six points at the under-8 media timeout. McConnell fouled Reneau on a layup, so Reneau will shoot two free throws when play resumes.

7:55 p.m. – Kopp picked up his third foul, and Omoruyi goes 1-for-2 at the line to cut Indiana's lead to nine points. Rutgers earns a jump ball on the rebound and had the possession arrow, but Mulcahy missed a turnaround jumper. That was an important stop for Indiana as the clock ticks below 10 minutes.

7:51 p.m. – Miller Kopp is now 4-for-5 from 3, leading Indiana with 16 points. He had 21 points at Rutgers back in December, so they clearly have a tough time figuring out how to guard him. With a Jackson-Davis dunk, he's now a 2,001 career points. He passed Yogi Ferrell earlier tonight and stands at sixth on the all-time scoring list behind Mike Woodson at 2,061.

7:47 p.m. – Race Thompson is now 1-for-5 tonight after a missed 3 from the top of the key. He's taken some shots out of rhythm and doesn't look as confident as usual. Reneau will check in for him after the timeout with Indiana leading 49-44. Indiana can't quite pull away from this scrappy Rutgers team.

7:38 p.m. – Officials get Hyatt for a technical foul after he missed a 3. It looked like he said something to Kopp after the play. Kopp missed the free throw, but Indiana gets back out to a seven-point lead with a Race Thompson floater. Omoruyi is way off on a 3-pointer, and he'll hear the "air-ball" chants the rest of the night. IU leads 47-40 at the under-16 media timeout.

7:33 p.m. – Spencer's 3 ties the game for the first time since it was 2-2 in the first minute. Kopp answers with a 3 of his own – he's 3-for-4 from 3 today.

7:31 p.m. – Some keys for IU in the second half: Push the pace and don't let Rutgers set its defense. Rutgers will want to slow the game down and be physical with Indiana in the half court. No one can contain Jackson-Davis in transition. Defensively, it looks like Indiana will let Rutgers shoot 3s with some level of frequency, which isn't a bad idea. Rutgers shoots 32 percent from 3 as a team.

7:18 p.m. – At the half, Jackson-Davis leads Indiana with 11 points, followed by eight from Kopp. Hyatt and Palmquist each have nine points for Rutgers, and Omoruyi scored eight. Indiana shot 60.9 percent overall, 50 percent from 3 and 70 percent from the free throw line. Rutgers shot 48.1 overall, 54.5 from 3 and 75 percent from the free throw line.

7:16 p.m. – Rutgers ends the half on a 13-6 run in the final five-plus minutes to make a 38-35 Indiana lead at halftime. It was shaping up to be one of Indiana's best halves of the season, but Rutgers dominated the last three minutes.

7:13 p.m. – Back-to-back 3-pointers from Hyatt and Spencer trims the Indiana lead to four points, and Thompson turns it over on the following possession. Kopp was screaming for the ball, but Thompson didn't see him and threw a pass over Galloway's head into the stands. IU leads 36-62 at the one-minute mark.

7:08 p.m. – Jackson-Davis goes coast-to-coast to get Indiana's lead back to 10 as the clock ticks below four minutes. A nifty pass from Galloway to Jackson-Davis extends, the lead further, and Race Thompson comes up with steal on the next possession. Indiana playing well on both ends tonight.

7:03 p.m. – Jordan Geronimo enters the game for the first time since Indiana's win over Minnesota more than a week ago. Indiana also came out in a press that last defensive possession, with Bates and Galloway at the top. Palmquist connects on his second and third 3-pointers of the game on back-to-back possessions, trimming Indiana's lead to 30-22 with 6:35 left in the first half. Palmquist entered the game averaging 1.9 points and 5.2 minutes per game in 10 appearances, but he's 3-for-3 from 3-point range to keep Rutgers in this one.

6:57 p.m. – Kaleb Banks getting his first run of the game now, replacing Kopp. Banks didn't play much the first two months, but he's been active the last few games to earn more minutes. He's in at small forward along with Reneau and Jackson-Davis. Tamar Bates was fouled shooting a 3, sending us to the under-8 timeout with Indiana leading 27-16. Indiana continuing to show improved defense tonight, too.

6:54 p.m. – Assembly Hall is rocking after Kopp's second 3-pointer of the game, and Steve Pikiell calls a timeout with Indiana leading 25-14. It looked like Rutgers mixed in a 2-3 zone the last few possessions, but Indiana handled it well with constant ball movement. Kopp now leads Indiana with eight points.

6:51 p.m. – It's been a balanced night for Indiana so far in the scoring department. Six Hoosiers have scored, and Hood-Schifino and Jackson-Davis lead the way with five points apiece. Omoruyi has four to lead Rutgers.

6:49 p.m. – Reneau gets a bump from the Rutgers defense and finishes the reverse layup with his right hand. That bucket is answered by Rutgers with a 3-pointer from Oskar Palmquist, who fouls Jalen Hood-Schifino two plays later after a Jackson-Davis dunk. This game has been a bit faster-paced than expected, which probably plays to Indiana's favor. Hoosiers lead 20-14 at the under-12 media timeout.

6:45 p.m. – Malik Reneau is the first Hoosier off the bench tonight, replacing Race Thompson. Jackson-Davis goes 0-for-2 from the line after a foul on Omoruyi, his first. Indiana leads 13-11 at the 12:30 mark.

6:42 p.m. – Rutgers comes out in a press, and it leads to a turnover from Miller Kopp. A big question for Indiana tonight will be how it is able to handle the constant physicality and on-ball pressure from Rutgers.

6:37 p.m. – Jalen Hood-Schifino just made one of the most incredible plays of the season. He led the Indiana fast break down the left side and brought the ball around his back for a layup through contact. Rutgers was whistled for a foul, so Hood-Schifino will go to the line after the under-16 timeout with Indiana leading 12-6.

6:36 p.m. – Miller Kopp starts 1-for-1 from 3-point range, and a sweet up-and-under move from Jackson-Davis extends Indiana's lead and gets Assembly Hall on its feet. Jackson-Davis is whistled for goaltending on the other end, so Indiana leads 8-6.

6:34 p.m. – Cliff Omoruyi opens the scoring with a jump hook over Jackson-Davis. That's a matchup to keep an eye on all night – both players lead their team in scoring. Jackson-Davis draws a foul on McConnell on the other end to give Indiana a 3-2 lead.

6:30 p.m. – Starting lineup for Indiana remains the same: Jalen Hood-Schifino, Trey Galloway, Miller Kopp, Race Thompson and Trayce Jackson-Davis. The Rutgers starters are Cam Spencer, Caleb McConnell, Aundre Hyatt, Paul Mulcahy and Clifford Omoruyi.

6:18 p.m. – Indiana will be without sophomore center Logan Duncomb tonight due to a non-COVID illness. Jordan Geronimo was in uniform during pregame warmups, but Xavier Johnson remains out with a foot injury.
