Point Spread: Purdue Big Favorite Over Indiana in Rivalry Game at Assembly Hall

Even though Indiana has beaten Purdue two years in a row at Assembly Hall, it's the No. 2 Boilermakers who are hefty favorites for Tuesday's showdown. Here's the latest on the surprising point spread, with a great history of both teams against the numbers this season.

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana has beaten Purdue two years in a row at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, but the oddsmakers don't think that streak will continue when the two in-state rivals get together on Tuesday night.

This time around, No. 2-ranked Purdue is a 9.5-point favorite according to the SISportsbook.com gambling website. The over/under is 151.5.

Purdue has been in and out of the No. 1 spot in the Associated Press poll this year, and it's the third straight year where they've spent some time at No. 1. They are 15-2 this year, and Indiana is 12-5.

This is Indiana's third game vs. a top-5 team this season. The Hoosiers lost to Connecticut by 20 in November as a 12.5-point underdog, and lost to No. 2 Kansas 75-71 at home as a 7.5-point underdog in December.

It's going to be interesting to see how competitive they'll be on Tuesday. Will it be like UConn, where they couldn't contend? Or will it be like Kansas, where it came down to final shots for both teams at Assembly Hall, with Kansas making theirs and Indiana missing its final shot?

Indiana is 3-1 against Purdue during the Mike Woodson era, including two wins at Assembly Hall. The Hoosiers swept the series a year ago, winning at home as a 1-point favorite, and winning at Mackey Arena as a 6.5-point underdog.
