WATCH: Grace Berger Scores Clutch Basket for Indiana Fever in Overtime Win
Grace Berger and the Indiana Fever defeated the Dallas Wings 97-84 in overtime on Sunday.
Berger — formerly a five-year player for coach Teri Moren and the Indiana Hoosiers — did not have a particularly eye-popping stat line from the game. She finished with just four points on 2-for-5 shooting in 22 minutes of play.
However, in the overtime period, Berger produced one of the best buckets of the game to put the Fever up 90-84 over the Wings, a lead they would not surrender.
The former Hoosier attacked off a closeout to her left and toward the baseline, then put her defender in a spin cycle, twice reversing course before she muscled a shot up and into the basket from a tough angle.
It was a great play from the WNBA rookie against one of the league's best players in Arike Ogunbowale.
Though it was one of only two baskets Berger produced in Sunday's action, it was far from her only highlight.
Her first bucket came in the second quarter, when she initiated the Fever's offense with a ball screen near half court. Berger set up her defender with back-to-back crossovers, got going downhill to her left and finished the move with a physicality to create space on her pull-up jumper.
Berger also showed off her spectacular passing ability in the game against Dallas, finding teammate NaLyssa Smith in transition with a perfectly placed hit-ahead pass in the third quarter.
Even though her box score numbers from the Sunday victory looked rather ordinary, Berger's highlight plays were enough to get WNBA fans and media alike buzzing about her on Twitter.
She's a fan favorite everywhere she goes.
With the win, the Fever are now 12-25 here in Berger's rookie season, and they'll play their next game on Tuesday, Sept. 5, against the Chicago Sky at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
