Point Spread: Indiana Surprisingly Large Underdog at Maryland on Sunday
COLLEGE PARK, Md. — Indiana started its Big Ten season with a win over Maryland in December, and now the Hoosiers are looking for a sweep on Sunday in College Park.
Both teams are looking to avoid playing on Wednesday night in the first round of the Big Ten tournament, so this is a big game for both Indiana (15-3, 7-10 in the Big Ten) and Maryland (15-14, 7-11).
The oddsmakers think Maryland will hold serve at home.. According to the SISportsbook.com gambling website, the Terrapins are an 8.5-point favorite over the Hoosiers as of Sunday. The over/under is 136.5, up three points from the opening line.
Maryland has been a hard team to figure out all season. They were projected to finish in the top-five in the league, but have been a big disappointment. Usually very good at home, they have lost five Big Ten games already, including Wednesday night against undermanned Northwestern. Maryland was just 2-for-22 from three. That's why it's a little surprising that they are such a large favorite against Indiana.
The game starts at 2 p.m. ET and is being televised on CBS. For all of the information on how to watch and a great preview of the game from HoosiersNow.com writer Jack Ankony,
