Ex-Indiana Forward Geronimo Posts Double-Double in Maryland's Win Over Rutgers
Former Indiana forward Jordan Geronimo recorded his first double-double with Maryland on Sunday afternoon. The senior scored 11 points and collected 11 rebounds in a 63-46 victory over Rutgers.
Geronimo spent his first three seasons of college basketball with Indiana. He transferred to Maryland following the 2022-23 campaign, giving the Terrapins a better interior presence entering this season.
The senior's performance on Sunday against Rutgers was his best of the year. In his last seven games, he had accounted for just 19 total points, never scoring more than six in a single contest. It also marked the fifth time this season he's reached double figures.
Sunday was Geronimo's first double-digit rebounding effort of the season. The forward made three-of-six shots from floor and knocked down his only 3-point attempt of the game.
Part of Geronimo's big day included this impressive dunk on Rutgers:
Entering Sunday's game, Geronimo was averaging 5.5 points and 3.8 rebounds per contest. The win bumped Maryland to 15-13 on the year and 7-10 in Big Ten play.
Statistically, Geronimo is enjoying the best season of his collegiate career. In three seasons with the Hoosiers, the forward averaged 3.8 points and 2.7 rebounds per contest. He's also seen a significant increase in minutes, averaging over 23 per contest with the Terps. In Bloomington, he saw the floor for just over 11 minutes per game.
Maryland has just three games on the schedule. The Terrapins host Northwestern and Indiana before closing the year on the road against Penn State.
