Purdue Assistant Coach Paul Lusk Provides Injury Update on Trey Kaufman-Renn

Purdue received some great news on starting forward Trey Kaufman-Renn. After suffering an ankle injury in Saturday's win over Iowa, Kaufman-Renn was back at practice and should be ready for Tuesday's game against Michigan.

Despite suffering a scary ankle injury during Purdue's 84-70 win over Iowa on Saturday, forward Trey Kaufman-Renn should be good to go for Tuesday's game against Michigan (9 p.m. ET, Peacock. Assistant coach Paul Lusk provided an update on the sophomore on Monday.

Kaufman-Renn came down awkwardly while grabbing a rebound late in Saturday's game against the Hawkeyes in Iowa City. He was in pain and needed assistance getting off the floor.

The forward did not return to the game.

Monday, Lusk told reporters that Kaufman-Renn suffered a rolled ankle but was able to practice on Monday. He's expected to play against Michigan. 

"He's great, actually. Very fortunate, it was an awkward landing," Lusk said, per a video posted by Kelly Hallinan of WLFI. "But he'll be ready to go."

That's good news for the Boilermakers, who have two games on deck this week. Following Tuesday's contest at Mackey Arena against the Wolverines, Purdue travels to Piscataway for a Sunday showdown against Rutgers (1 p.m. ET, Fox). 

Purdue has not won at The RAC since Feb. 3, 2018.

Kaufman-Renn is averaging 6.9 points and 4.3 rebounds per game for the Boilers, shooting 52.2% from the floor. He had a career performance in an early January win over Illinois, scoring 23 points and collected four rebounds in an 83-78 victory.

The sophomore had five rebounds, four points and two assists in Saturday's win over Iowa before exiting the contest with the injury.
