BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana football held its Pro Day at Memorial Stadium and Mellencamp Pavilion Tuesday afternoon.

The Hoosiers' participants included defensive lineman Andre Carter, wide receiver DeQuece Carter, linebacker Aaron Casey, defensive back Noah Pierre, long snapper Sean Wracher and running backs Christian Turner and Josh Henderson.

"Coming back, it feels good," Casey said. "I grew up here for the most part. So getting back to see how things are, see the new guys coming here, too, I'm excited for them and excited for new opportunities they have. I wish the best for IU."

In preparation for the 2024 NFL Draft, they performed various drills in front of NFL scouts from across the league, including the bench press, vertical jump, broad jump, shuttle drill, three-cone drill, 40-yard dash and position-specific football drills.

Here are some of the results.

Bench press, 225 pounds

  • Andre Carter, 33 reps
  • Christian Turner, 26 reps
  • Josh Henderson, 22 reps
  • Noah Pierre, 14 reps
  • DeQuece Carter, 12 reps

Carter's 33 reps would have been third-most among all participants at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine. Turner's 26 reps would have ranked second among running backs at the combine, one rep behind Michigan's Blake Corum.

Vertical jump

  • Noah Pierre, 37.5"
  • Josh Henderson, 35"
  • DeQuece Carter, 34"
  • Aaron Casey, 34"
  • Christian Turner, 34"

Broad jump

  • Christian Turner, 10'5"
  • Josh Henderson, 10'
  • Noah Pierre, 10'
  • DeQuece Carter, 9'11"
  • Andre Carter 8'9"

"I feel good," Pierre said. "I hit the numbers that I wanted to hit. I had my family come out and watch me, which was a blessing and something they always wanted to do. So I feel like I performed very well."

Pierre said he was cleared from a hip injury in early January that limited him to seven games during his 2023 season. When healthy, Pierre started at Indiana's Husky, or nickel cornerback position, but he also played safety and cornerback during his six-year college career. Pierre finished his career with 104 tackles, 10 pass breakups, eight tackles for loss, four sacks and three forced fumbles.

He feels that versatility could be valuable at the next level, along with his leadership qualities as a team captain.

"Obviously I'm athletic, and I feel like I showed that today," Pierre said. "But I think the biggest thing is my IQ. I feel like I come with a lot of knowing the defense and knowing what the offense is going to give you so I'm able to help any team in that aspect. ... You can put me anywhere and I'll figure it out and I'll do whatever I can to help the defense."

Pierre has spent most of the offseason in Miami training for the Pro Day, rehabbing his hip and working to improve his top-end speed. He also plans to attend local Pro Days hosted by the Indianapolis Colts and Miami Dolphins leading up to the draft.

Casey was the lone Hoosier invited to the NFL Scouting Combine, but he also participated in Tuesday's Pro Day in Bloomington. A team captain, Casey earned first-team All-Big Ten honors in 2023 after leading Indiana with 109 total tackles.

When meeting with teams at the combine, Casey felt they were attracted to the skills he showed when leading the conference and ranking third nationally with 20 tackles for loss in 2023.

"Instincts, the way I can move and find the ball in the backfield was one of the main things," Casey said. "And how aggressive I am at the point of contact."

Andre Carter played just one season at Indiana after transferring in from Western Michigan, but he earned an All-Big Ten honorable mention after recording 49 tackles, 11 tackles for loss and two sacks. Similarly, DeQuece Carter was a one-year Hoosier and spent most of his career at Fordham. Altogether, he racked up 203 receptions for 3,430 yards and 34 touchdowns.

Running backs Henderson and Turner were transfers, too, with Henderson joining the Hoosiers before the 2022 season from North Carolina and Turner transferring in from Wake Forest, and previously Michigan, in 2023. Henderson totaled 735 rushing yards, 399 receiving yards and 11 total touchdowns as a Hoosier. Turner logged 227 rushing yards and two touchdowns at Indiana, in addition to 1,022 rushing yards at Wake Forest.

Wracher was a mainstay at long snapper during coach Tom Allen's tenure, starting all 57 game dating back to the 2019 season. He was an All-Big Ten selection all four seasons.

Though the Hoosiers who participated in Pro Day obviously won't be part of the 2024 team under new head coach Curt Cignetti, Tuesday provided a brief glimpse into that squad. During position-specific drills, quarterback Kurtis Rourke, who transferred from Ohio to Indiana this offseason, threw passes to Carter, Henderson and Turner.
