Indiana gets Noon Kickoff at Penn State on Saturday
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Now we know what time Indiana will play Penn State on Saturday, and we also know the Nittany Lions won't be undefeated when the Hoosiers get there.
Because there was a lot at stake this past weekend, the league and its television partners waited a few extra days to determine the kickoff times and networks for the Nov. 16 game. The Hoosiers and Nittany Lions will kick off at Noon ET in State College, Pa.
Penn State had been ranked No. 4 in the first College Football Playoff poll after getting off to an 8-0 start. But it lost the huge showdowns of unbeatens Saturday in Minneapolis, losing to Minnesota 31-26 in a game that came right down to the wire.
Indiana is 7-2 and enjoyed a week off after winning four straight games since their previous bye the first weekend in October. They used to week to get rested up, both physically and mentally, and it was a huge recruiting weekend for Indiana's coach.
The Hoosiers return to practice on Monday. They will prepare with Peyton Ramsey at quarterback after Michael Penix Jr. underwent surgery last week on his collarbone. Penix will be out for the year, so it's all on Ramsey now and Jack Tuttle slides into the backup role.
It will be a challenge at Penn State, like it always is. The Hoosiers are 1-21 all-time against the Nittany Lions, with the only win coming in Bloomington in 2013. The Hoosiers are 0-10 in (not-so) Happy Valley. All but one of the losses at Penn State have been by double-digits or more.
The Hoosiers have only three regular-season games remaining. They host Michigan on Nov. 23 and finish the season at Purdue on Nov. 30. Indiana has qualified for a bowl game, as well. Their destination and opponent will be announced on Sunday, Dec. 8.
