2024 Recruit Diamant Blazi Visits Indiana
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – Indiana continues to look for high school talent in the class of 2024, most recently hosting a visit for Diamant Blazi earlier this week.
Blazi is a 6-foot-8 wing who attends Jordan Christian Prep in Auburndale, Fla. His senior season was his first in the United States, as he previously played for Roanne in the French LNB Espoirs league. At Jordan Christian Prep, Blazi became a first-team all-state selection by the Sunshine Independent Athletic Association, according an article by the Lakeland Ledger published March 5.
He self-reports a 7-foot-2 inch wingspan and a 42-inch vertical leap, and his high-level athleticism is clear in the highlights below.
Blazi explained his decision to move to the United States to the Lakeland Ledger. To read that full article, which includes more background and insight into his style of play and personality, CLICK HERE.
“I played in the league for three years, and after my third year, I decided that I wanted more for my future,” Blazi told the Ledger. “The option I had was either stay four more years to play professional in France or move to the US, do one year of high school, then moved to college, and that's what I decided to do.”
Blazi didn't start playing basketball until he was 11 years old, and he's been described as a late-bloomer. He's not currently ranked by any major recruiting sites, and it wasn't until Feb. 19, 2024 that Blazi received his first Division I offer from Monmouth. But various programs have started to show interest lately.
Jordan Christian Prep coach Mike Guastella believes Blazi has a high ceiling.
“He’s a great prospect,” Guastella told the Lakeland Ledger. “He needs some development. He could have benefitted from an extra year here (in the United States). He’s getting a lot of Division I interest. If he was here a year earlier and was able to play on the AAU circuit, he would have had bigger offers. ... Where ever he ends up going, he’s going to develop into a high-level player.”
Indiana picked up a commitment from five-star wing Bryson Tucker on Thursday, who represents the only class of 2024 recruit committed to Indiana. That leaves the Hoosiers with six open scholarships heading into the 2024-25 season after the graduation of Xavier Johnson and Anthony Walker, plus CJ Gunn, Kaleb Banks and Payton Sparks transferring and Kel'el Ware declaring for the 2024 NBA Draft.
